What I did during the holidays...

I've been in a bit of a rut this week since work decided to spontaneously give me the week off, but I've actually had the chance to accomplish a few small things.

I'm cleaning the house right now, reading some fascinating blogs on Fat Acceptance, and just generally goofing around until it gets to be about seven or so, at which point I'm going to swing by Starbucks for some intense study and maybe some hot chocolate, too.

Chrimbo went about as well as can be expected. I cobbled together a fairly good imitation of dinner, spent the whole day cuddling with the hubby, and received a lot of really wonderful presents.

-A huge boning knife which should make working with meat a lot easier. I've never actually boned anything (aside from a fish, once) but the weight of it should make tough cuts a piece of cake. On top of that, I just love knives in general.
-A gift basket full of English foods. ^___^
-My Japanese Coach (which I plan on reviewing sometime)
-Kingdom Hearts 365/2 Days
-A bloody laptop. I don't know how he managed to find one so cheap, but wow...I finally have my own lappy. (I named it Miku)
-A bizarre bundle of DVDs comprising of the Super Mario Bros movie, Lost Boys, The Meaning of Life, and one of those horror collections made up of four movies which look mindblowingly awful. =D
-Hello Kitty Online.
-A new set of keys, complete with a kickass chain and an itty bitty Ivan Braginski to keep 'em safe.
-A second quilt for the bed.
-Four six packs of Black Jack Cola. Yum!

I also got a really nice Year One Batman comic from my dad back home. I haven't really been into Batman for a long while, now, but reading it made me remember why I used to be so obsessed. Great story, great art, great pacing...when Batman gets it right, it really gets it right. There's supposedly a couple of my old jackets in the mail coming from my mum, too, so that's something to look forward to.

I've been thinking about what I want to do with this journal. What I want to accomplish, and learn, and say. Right now, what I'd like to do most is talk meta about my favourite genre: Survival Horror. I'm not sure how I'd go about it, exactly, but I've got the notes for some long, rambly posts about enemy design, in-game notes/recordings, and where survival horror seems to be going right now. Hopefully I'll have something jimmy-rigged within the next month or so.

Of course, I also want to talk about awesomely terrible horror movies, and JRPGs, and games in general, and just...everything, I guess.

S'pose we'll see how it all turns out, eh?
